Darren R. Fuerst, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist/neuropsychologist, specializing in neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation psychology. He also serves as faculty in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Oakwood at Wayne State University School of Medicine.

Dr. Fuerst provides services at Beaumont Taylor Hospital and the PM&R Oakwood office in Novi. His clinical interests include assessment of cognitive function, ADHD, brain injury, dementia, and neurological conditions.

Dr. Fuerst received his bachelors degree in psychology at York University in Toronto, Canada. He also received masters and doctorate degrees in neuropsychology at University of Windsor in Windsor, Canada. Dr. Fuerst completed his post-doctoral training in Neuropsychology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.  

Prior to joining Wayne State PM&R Oakwood, Dr. Fuerst was in private practice and also served as Associate Professor at the University of Illinois Chicago. He has been licensed to practice in Michigan since 1995. Dr. Fuerst is also extensively published in neuropsychology and neurology, with over 75 journal articles and abstracts.

A board certified orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Krugel received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1967. He completed a fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital in 1968 and a surgery residency at University Hospital, Ann Arbor, and Sinai Hospital, Detroit, in 1970. In 1971 he completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Maimonides Medical Center in New York, and subsequently a two-year orthopaedic surgery residency at Jewish Hospital and Medical Center, New York. Dr. Krugel then served as a practicing orthopaedic surgeon in the United States Air Force at its Regional Hospital, Maxwell Airforce Base in Alabama, from September 1973 to September 1975.

Dr. Krugel is an assistant professor (clinical educator) in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, with a second appointment in Physical Medical and Rehabilitation for our School of Medicine. He has mentored numerous students, residents and fellows since his appointment to the faculty in 1999.

He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Detroit Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Mid-America Orthopaedic Association, the Michigan Orthopaedic Society, the American Medical Association and the Clinical Orthopaedic Society.

P. Tyler Roskos, Ph.D., A.B.P.P., is a clinical psychologist/neuropsychologist, specializing in neuropsychology assessment and rehabilitation psychology.  He also serves as faculty in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Oakwood at Wayne State University School of Medicine.

Dr. Roskos provides services at Oakwood Heritage Hospital in Taylor and the PM&R Oakwood office at Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center in Dearborn.  His clinical interests include traumatic brain injury, stroke, and dementia.

Dr. Roskos received his masters and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology at Saint Louis University. He completed his post-doctoral training in Neuropsychology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Prior to joining Wayne State PM&R Oakwood, Dr. Roskos practiced as a Clinical Neuropsychologist and served as an Assistant Professor at Saint Louis University, Department of Neurosurgery. 

Dr. Roskos' research interests include traumatic brain injury, neuroimaging, and neuro-rehabilitation.  He is extensively published in these areas and has been a co-investigator on NIH and Department of Defense grants.

About Dr. Peduzzi-Nelson:
Dr. Peduzzi-Nelson received her Ph.D. degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology from Wayne State University. Dr. Peduzzi-Nelson also holds a B.S. degree in Zoology from University of Michigan.

Serving as the Director of Research the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Oakwood, Dr. Peduzzi-Nelson's main focus is to develop laboratory treatments and help advance therapies to clinical trials. The lab is one of few labs in the world that specializes in large scale investigation of combination treatments of spinal cord injury that is chronic, severe, and contusive. Treatments under development also focus in treating head injury, retinal degeneration, and other disease and injury states. Techniques used in the lab include behavioral testing, immunohistochemistry, and intrathecal drug delivery.

Brock holds a Bachelor's degree in Theology from Saint Mary's College Orchard Lake, Michigan with undergraduate studies in ethics and a Master of Arts in Religious Studies and certificate in Women's Studies from the University of Detroit Mercy. Her graduate work included studies in the intersection of spiritual care, health and healing.  Brock's leadership in education includes curriculum development and implementing creative, well-organized and hands-on learning experiences which address the interests and needs of students and faculty.

Brock has extensive experience in teaching adults, training teachers, education administration, and is passionate about designing innovative learning opportunities in graduate medical education to meet the needs of medical professionals that promote the goals and objectives of the residency and fellowship. Her responsibilities include coordination of the entire physical medicine and rehabilitation residency and fellowship program, managing resident and fellow recruitment, coordinating medical student and observer rotations, public relations and publicity for the department, serving as a liaison for faculty affairs with Wayne State University School of Medicine, administrative coordination for our research consortium, and serving as special events coordinator for the department.

Brock also collaborates with our program directors in monitoring compliance with ACGME core and specialty-specific requirements through education in the six core competency standards and the PM & R and BIM Milestones in graduate medical education. Most recently, Brock was an invited judge at the State-Wide QI Summit for resident Quality Improvement Projects held in Troy, Michigan June 3, 2016 and at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi on June 2, 2017.  Brock also gave two national presentations at the Association of Academic Physiatrists Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas in March, 2015 on topics the of: Professionalism Milestones in PM & R and on How to Set up a Quality and Safety Curriculum in Your Residency Program. Brock is a member of the Beaumont Hospital-Taylor Medical Education Committee and the Transitional Year Resident Committee. Brock's academic interests include healthcare disparities and cultural diversity, professionalism, ethics, and innovation within graduate medical education for the healthcare system of the future.
