Dr. Jean Peduzzi Nelson wins President's Award for Excellence in Teaching

Wayne State University School of Medicine Associate Professor of Anatomy and Cell Biology Jean Peduzzi Nelson, Ph.D., was awarded the 2016 President's Award for Excellence in Teaching during the university's Academic Recognition Ceremony.

This year's ceremony, held April 28 in the McGregor Memorial Conference Center, recognized Dr. Peduzzi Nelson as one of 10 faculty members from WSU, nominated by a department chair or program director, who have made outstanding contributions to teaching at the university.

"My basic teaching philosophy is that it is the job of an educator to present a subject so that it awakens the interest of students to create lifelong learners, as almost all information is or will be a click of a button away," she said. Read More.


The WSU Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation-Oakwood were ambassadors for Physiatry during the residency and fellowship fair at the AAPM&R Annual Meeting October 1-4, 2015 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Wayne State University School of Medicine, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation-Oakwood at Beaumont Health announces a new curriculum for our PM & R residents. Every Friday from Noon-12:30 p.m. our first and second year residents meet for a focused lecture on Physiatry.  This curriculum was assembled by Michelle Brock, MA our Program Coordinator and our BIM Fellow, Steve Bou, MD, and is designed to be a bridge between the internship year and an introduction to Physiatry rotations.  The program includes lunch and team building with core faculty and our BIM Fellow.  Topics include:
